What is the best design that will build the strongest but lightest bridge?

At the library, you will find 5 references for your research paper and enough information to select a bridge truss design.

Only research Truss Bridges. Do not research about suspension bridges, covered bridges, etc.

1. Select your bridge truss design. Research types of trusses. List advantages/disadvantages of the major types      (this is where you will us the parenthetical references about these facts).

2. Draw a scale drawing on the large graph paper that will be given to you. This drawing is a side view of your      bridge. A top view will be included also. This drawing is due December 10 or 11.

3. Purchase 2 bridge kits by December 11 from your teacher. Approximate price is $7.00 per kit. The kit consists only      of the three sizes of balsa wood. Glue and toothpicks will be purchased separately by the student.

4. Construct one bridge that is due after winter break.

5. Test the first bridge at Mesquite High School

6. Improve on the original design and build a second ridge -- you should only make minor changes. Do not change      your overall design.

7. Build a second bridge due at the end of January.
